The Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society (GCKWS) was and is honored to host master ceramic artist Chris Gustin. He came to fire in the Society's kilns and to meet, participate and share his knowledge with potters and other artists at Gulf Coast Kiln Walk as the Featured artist for the 17th and 18th Annual WoodStoke Festivals. He returns again for a program of workshop (at Gulf Coast Kiln Walk in Navarre), exhibition, opening, lectures (at Pensacola State College) and firing the Anagama for the 2024 season, culminating in the 19th Annual Woodstock Fest and kilns openings February 10, 2024 at Gulf Coast Kiln Walk in Navarre.

There will be an exhibition of Chris' work at Pensacola State College
during January and February 2024, with lectures and demos in January at Gulf Coast Kiln Walk in Navarre and an
opening reception with a lecture and slide show by Chris
at 5:00 PM on Feb. 8
at the Lamar Studio Gallery in the Anna Lamar Switzer Center
at Pensacola State College. Appearing and lecturing with him will be guest artist Nancy Train Smith whose work shall also be on exhibition in the Lamar Gallery.
Mr. Gustin is Professor Emeritus, at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Chris has exhibited, lectured and taught workshops in the United States, Caribbean, South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has received two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, and three Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowships. He is also co-founder of the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Maine. Chris has work in major museums around the world including the Renwick and the Smithsonian.

The Anagama kiln is the largest in the state of Florida, and the Ralph Howard Phillips Southern Groundhog kiln is the only 1940-s era wood-fueled kiln in the state.
